Spirituality: Total Liberation
If
you're not the thinker, then who are you? The thoughts that you're
having? Only if you identify yourself with those thoughts. Or the
feelings that you're having? Are you the feeling? Some people believe
they are [it.]
You might choose to identify yourself with resentment,
for example, or any other type of negative sentiment. Therefore, you
become entangled in that emotion and your consciousness merges with it.
Unless you learn how to separate yourself from the thoughts that you're
having or from any unpleasant emotion or state of mind, you can not
liberate yourself from suffering.
You'll always live the same
dysfunctional pattern, over and over again, until you might start to
lose your mind or become depressed. The way out of emotional pain is the
dimension of inner stillness — the totality of your consciousness that
goes beyond the mind.
When you begin to see that inner light of yours,
you gradually learn to differentiate between your true identity and the
content of your mind. It is an astounding realization!
